Before and After
When you're the boss's wife, you get certain privileges. This 1950 Ford Pickup is one example. Nicknamed "Winnie", she comes equipped with a 239 flathead V-8 complete with dual carburetors and water pumps.
When we found Winnie, a botched previous restoration attempt had left her with numerous coats of paint, and literally inches of bondo. Luckily, this proved to be nothing that sweat, sandpaper, and occasional grinding couldn't take care of.
One of the challenges was the custom 2-tone paint. The extra work was worth the effort, though, as you can see from this picture. You'll also notice that we had custom bumpers made from real oak.
Unfortunately, the previous restoration attempts also extended to the engine compartment. This is one of those areas where paying close attention to even the smallest details really pays off.
In addition to all of the cosmetic details, Winnie's engine was given a good going through. The end result was that her power and performance were almost a tripled. (Her previous top speed was only about 40 MPH.)
Judging from the amount of dents and bondo in the bed, at one time this truck had been real a workhorse for someone. We really had our work cut out for
us here.
The custom oak bed liner really added a touch of class. We also think it complements the oak bumpers and running-board trim quite nicely.
Winnie's interior was in much the same condition as her body. As you can see, every detail of her interior was given special attention, from headliner to carpet.
